How It Works

EVERY 2 MONTHS—on the second Saturday of every even month—our Neighborhood Coordinators pick up bags of healthy nonperishable food that neighbors have left outside their front doors. They leave empty green bags for next time, and take all the food to local Food Providers. It’s that easy!

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE COLLECTION EFFORT!

Our Hunger Heroes broke the 30,000-pound record again, this time
with a total of 44,379 pounds of food going to our hungry neighbors.
That’s TEN THOUSAND POUNDS MORE THAN OCTOBER!
Thank you to all our Volunteers and Green Bag Food Donors!

Pounds of Food

Neighborhood Coordinators collected 21,390 pounds of food (an increase of over 3,000 lbs). This was distributed to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry, Yarnell Food Pantry, the Prescott Community Cupboard, and Sonrise Fellowship of Wilhoit with the help of volunteers from the Prescott Frontier Rotary, JRROTC and Air Force Recruits.

Collected 10,689 (nearly double the amount collected in October) pounds of food that was given to the Chino Valley School District Hungry Kids Weekend Project and their families. Thanks to a host of volunteers from the JustServe, Grace Church. the Chino Valley High School Honors Society, CVEF and the Lions Club of Chino Valley.

Neighborhood coordinators collected 12,300 pounds of donated food!!! This was shared between the Prescott Valley Food Bank and the Mayer Unified School District Hungry Kids Weekend Food Project. Thanks to the volunteers from Juvenile Probation, the Rotarians, Patty and Rusty Smith, Donna Kornhaas, and volunteers from Heights Church/Park Collective.

Where Does the Food Go?

Since it started in the Prescott area in August 2014 we have collected and distributed over 400,000 pounds of food. We are currently providing food to:

The Prescott Community Cupboard
The Prescott Valley Food Bank
The Chino Valley Hungry Kids Project
Mayer Hungry Kids Weekend Backpack program
Sonrise Fellowship of Wilhoit
St. Luke’s Church Food Pantry
Yarnell Food Bank

As we grow, we will add other area food providers such as these.

We now have more than 60 Neighborhood Coordinators and more than 1,400 households regularly donating food.

Please join us in this wonderful community project… Our System Really Works.
